Ulla Napankangas

Ulla Näpänkangas, an ophthalmologist, FEBO, has a 20 year clinical and management experience in public, private and academia settings of eye health care. After completing her medical degree and PhD in molecular pathology in University of Oulu, Finland, she pursued an academic path of glaucoma research in Uppsala University in Sweden and Oulu University Hospital. In 2008, she joined finnish health care company Coronaria to build up their ophthalmology branch.

In Coronaria, Ulla has built up successful public-private collaborations and overseen the acquisition and integration of the private eye hospital chain Medilaser in 2017. After the acquisition of Silmäasema optical retail and private eye hospitals in 2020, the company is a clear market leader in Finnish eye health with a unique business model. As a CEO with strong clinical background, Ulla has very practical understanding and approach to solving the challenges of the growing eye health demand.
